Reports from England indicate a steady flow of orders to British manufacturers. who are apparently doing well. Makers of gramophones and accessories are exceptionally busy and report that business has never been better. One of the leading firms ■states that its business has increased this year to three times the volume 01 previous years, and the steady improvement of quality and tone in the machines is creating a renewed demand. The buyer for a Now Zealand firm reported that when ho approached a large wholesale manufacturing firm to order supplies he found the shop full of trade buyers, with queues of buyers at both entrances (states the “Otago Daily Times"). He reports that the gramophone companies arc making lots of money. In one instance £1 shares have gone up to AB. It is apparent that wireless is not cutting out the gramophone either in England or on the Continent, despite the fact that a cheap crystal set is available which will put the operator in touch with a number of fine broadcasting stations.
