An amusing instance of how a certain thoroughfare received the name of "Twilight Road/* was revealed at a recent meeting of the Manukau County Connoil (says the Auckland "Star”). The question of the derivation of the name was raised by one of the councillors, who affirmed that he know no other road of that name in New Zealand. The word, he said, was essential!v English, indicating the three odd hours or so between sunset and nightfall, according to the season of the year. In explaining, another councillor said Mr. Day and Mr. Knight, two of the earliest settlers, in the district, each lived on opposite sides of the same road, which, of course, being between Dav and Knight, was happily called twilight.
