Most people have a fairly good idea of the hardships and loneliness of life in this particular mission and of the poor pav attached to it. The tuck boxes contain medical comforts and a few home delicacies which | have to be specially manufactured to 1 withstand the climate. The Southern Cross sails on Mav 1, and on behalf I of the Melanesian Mission I ask sym- ! pathisers to send their contributions as j soon as possible to Miss Mestayer, IM'.t | Sydney Street West, Wellington, ami t I can assure them that such money will f be judiciously expended for a grateful | bodv of men and women.” s
