DEPARTURE FOR AUSTRALIA Dr. R. J. Tillyard, of the Cawthron Institute, who has been appointed Director of the Commonwealth Entomological Research Service, left Wellington last night for Auckland to connect with the Ulimaroa for Sydney. Ravages by insect’pests in Australia are considerable, an estimate of damage for one bad vear being £10,000,000, and in order to cope with them central laboratories and insectaries are to be erected at Canberra and sub stations in various parts of the Commonwealth.
