SHAMAN BEFORE COURT. William Shimon, a seaman, a?Ccl 63, pleaded guilty before Mr. E. Page, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday to being absent without leave from the Ma ta ton; The chief officer of the vessel explained that accused had gone ashore without permission and had a few drinks. When ho returned to the ship lie was spoken to by witness and told to report the next morning, but instead of doing so he again went ashore. Action had been taken against Salmon because it was essential that discipline be maintained aboard ship. The Magistrate: Aceussed will be ordered to forfeit two days’ pay and be put aboard the vessel before’ it sails this afternoon.

“I have nothin” against the ship,” said accused, “and the chief officer was quite justified in taking action against me.”
