THE MEMORIAL SITE
Sir, —In view of tho public feeling which has been created by tho recent decision of the Wellington Memorial Committee, may I, as one who took no part in tho discussion silent memorial versus carillon, and one who was absent from Wellington when tho previous controversy over a permanent site lor the memorial was taking place, suggest to the War Memorial Committee that it would be a graceful and generous act upon their part if they consented to reconsider their decision in the light of facts recently brought to light, in open committee, together with tho following experts: Tho designers of the excellent memorial which, they have so Wisely chosen, tho advising architect to the committee (Air. Glimmer), the city town-planning officer (Mr. Butcher), the chairman Wellington branch, N.Z. Institute of Architects (Mr. W. M. Pago), and Air. Hurst Seager, whose scheme would be presented. The wise counsel and final decision of such a bodv would not only silence all criticism favourable or unfavourable, but would I am sure satisfy completely every shade of opinion in tho city ot Wellington.—l am, etc.. NELSON ISAAC. Wellington, February 21.
