THE EXPORT TRADE BIG SHIPPING ALLOTMENTS LARGE CONSIGNMENTS FOR BRITAIN Although the long spell of dry weather is affecting production in the dairying industry of the Dominion, and there have been reductions on the allotments in the actual shipments by several steamers which have sailed this month, the total shipments for the season to date, both of butter and cheese, are still far ahead of those for the corresponding period of last season. From the beginning of the season on August 1, 19'27. till January 31, 1928, the total shipments of butter from the Dominion totalled 1,811,916 boxes, an increase of 511,869 boxes over the corresponding period of last season, while the shipments of cheese totalled 475,776 crates, an increase of 50,703 crates. Since February 1 the shipments of butter have been 252,700 boxes, and of cheese . 134,000 crates, all of which is in ships which have sailed <jr are about to sail for the United Kingdom. The Dairv Produce Board has now issued a further list of shipping allotments covering 18 steamers sailing between February 25 and April 22, and totalling 299,105 boxes of butter and 189,450 crates of cheese. The allotments are as follow, the destination being London, except where otherwise indicated:
