INFECTIOUS DISEASES
SLIGHT DECREASE IN TOTAL The bulletin of infectious diseases for the week ended noon yesterday shows a slight decrease in the number of reported cases. Scarlet fever is still prevalent in the Wellington area, ten cases having been notified. Following are the figures for the hospital areas in the Wellington health district:— Wanganui-Horowhenua : Scarlet fever, 5 (6) ; diphtheria, 3 (2) ; tuberculosis, 1 (5) ; puerperal fever, 1 (0) ; enteric fever, 0 (1) ; erysipelas, 0 (2) ; pneumonia, 0 (1) ; fuhniuent influenza, 0 (1) ; total, 10 (18). Wairarapa-East Cape: Scarlet fever, 5 (3) ; diphetheria, 2 (2) ; tuberculosis, 4 (7) ; puerperal fever, 1 (0) ; pneumonia, 1 (3) ; total, 13 (15). Central-Wellington: Scarlet fever, 10 (6) ; tuberculosis, 3 (6) ; septic abortion 1 (0) ; pneumonia, 3 (1) ; erysipelas, 1 (1) ; puerperal fever, 0 (1) ; total, 18 (15). Nelson-Marlborough: Scarlet fever, 1 (1); tuberculosis, 1 (0); total, 2 (1). Grand total, 43 (49).
