NEW SCHOOL FOR NEWTOWN WEST

FIRST REPLACEMENT BUILDING Cabinet has approved a grant for the erection of a substantial new school building at Newtown West (John Street). In making this announcement yesterday the Minister of Education (Hon. R. A. Wright) said that the new school would be the first replacement building in Wellington, and its erection would have a double effect—firstly of partly replacing the Newtown school, which is the oldest in Wellington, and secondly, of obviating the necessity for an infant school at Mount Cook.

The building, in brick, will consist of eight classrooms aud subsidiary accommodation.
