VORONOFF’S CLAIM
4 AS TO REJUVENATION OF LIVE STOCK “POSSIBLY JUSTIFIED” (Rec. February 7 19, 5.5 p.m.) London, February 18. Dr. Voronoff’s claim that he can affect the rejuvenation of live stock is possible justified says the report of the committee of the Board of Agriculture
experts after making inquiries in Algeria. The evidence, ho wever, is not based on critical experimentation, and the data are at present insufficient to warrant an estimate of the economic value, and it is still q uestiona ble whether the method will become of consider-
able importance to the Empire. The claim to an increase of wool and bodyweight of rams is supported by figures of the sheep shorn, but fhe conditions under which the experiments were made preclude the possibility of forming a critical opinion whether the direct economic advantages are negligible. The claim that the improved characteristics shown by rams after experiments are transmitted to their offspring involves the acceptance of the principle of heredity, and is not substantiated in the realm of science? The report suggest further more critical tests in' Britain.—A.P.A, and “Sun.”
