EX-DICTATOR OF GREECE
CHARGES AGAINST PANGALOS (Rec. February 19, 5.5 p.m.) Athens, February 18. After seventeen months’ imprisonment in a Cretan fortress, General Pangalos lias been brought before the Parliament-
ary Committee of Inquiry on six counts, charging him with illegally proclaiming himself Dictator on January 4, 1926 with holding an illegal election ol President in April, 1926, when he was elected as the sole candidate. Other offences include Lhe arrest and banishment of pro-
minent citizens. The ex-Dictator immediately objected to the composition of the committee, pointing out that it conained a member of the Cabinet which he overturned, also a member who acted as counsel for the men executed during his dictatorship. The committee privately considered this plea.
