The Hon. W. D. Stewart- arrived at Dunedin on Saturday afternoon and will remain there for two weeks, states a Press Association message. The Minister of Labour (Hon. G. J. Anderson) returned to Wellington from the south yesterday, Mr. 11. J. Manson, New Zealand Trade • Commissioner at Melbourne, is at present in Wellington. Mr. Manson has been spending his annual leave in the Dominion, and will return to Australia at the end of the co’ming -week. Sir George Fuller was entertained at a farewell banquet prior to his departure from Sydney for London. to assume the Agent-Generalship of New South Wales. Mr. Bavin and others eulogised his. long political services to the State.—Press Assn. Mr. Louis Thompson, president of the Federated Master Builders’ Association of Australia, is in Wellington. Accompanying him are Mr. Arthur Phillips, Mr. Andrew Douglas, and Air. H. AL AlcCann, of the Alaster Builders’ Association, of Alelbourne. They leave this evening and attend the Alaster Builders’ Dominion Conference at Christchurch to-morrow. The death took place in a private hospital at Levin on Friday of .Mr. Robert Bernard Kilgour, of Alanakau. The late Air. Kilgour was widely known throughout the province, having been sheepfarming in the Rangitikei district for many years prior to removing to Alanakau some four years ago. Throughout his lifetime any movement in the interests of the farmer had his earnest support, and for several years he was secretary of the Farmers’ Union at Alarton. About a fortnight ago he received injuries through a fall from which he failed to recover, the end coming on Friday. The late Air. Kilgour leaves a widow and family of six—five daughters and one son. The daughters are Airs. L. Beard, of Raetihi; Airs I. Drake, of Waikawa Station, Alanakau; and Aliases Nancy, Hettie and Bernice Kilgour, of Alanakau; the son is Air. Robert Kilgour, of Alanakau. Air. T. A. Johnston, who up till recently was resident engineer in charge of the construction of the dams at Alangahao, has been transferred to Westland as District Public Works Engineer, with headquarters at Greymouth. He was at one time associated with the Otira tunnel construction. Prior to leaving Alangahao Air. Johnston was the recipient of a presentation from the Public Works staff and foremen, and also from the Alangahao Workers’ Union. At the time of departure all hands ceased work to say good-bve, and in a happy speech made by an old employee reference was made to the very active part that Air. and Airs. Johnston had taken in the social life of the community, and to the goodwill that existed between engineer and workmen, as shown by an entire absence of stop-work meetings or disputes during the period of construction. Air. A. Al. Hurns, manager of the Christchurch Press Company, arrived from the south on Saturday morning to attend the annual meetings of the New Zealand Newspaper Proprietors’ Association and the Press Association. Trinitv College of Music, London, has appointed the following examiners to visit Australia and New Zealand:— Mr. Adolph Mann, who is due at Perth on April 3; Mr. Albert Mallinson and Dr. Vaughan, both due at Perth on August 14; Mr. Egerton Lowe, due at Auckland on June .18; Dr. Borland, due at Christchurch, early in July, says an A.P.A. and "Sun” message.
