A leter placed before the monthly meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Acclomatiation Society executise was ironi a membef or the society, who stated that ho recently spent two days fishing in the Tuki Tuki at Waipawa, and in a spot where, last year, he caught some splendid bags, got not a single bite this year (reports tlie "Telegraph”). He stated that he considered that the cause of the scarcity of trout in tho rivers in this location was the lack of water, and also the lack of the trouts* natural prey, the enunga. He stated that enunga were boing trapped in the locality in mesh nets, and inquired if there was not some legislation under which the individuals responsible for this could bo prosecuted. The matter was referred to the legal committee for inquiry.
