SHAPELY ANKLES AND ELBOW BEAUTY

Slim and well-shaped ankles are the result of walking correctly in wellfitting shoes. Both the excessively thin ankle and the one that seems to have no shape at all are often the result of badly-made footwear in childhood.

IeSUIL OI v* «-l IKI II ill »* ci i fitting shoes. Both the excessively thin ankle and the one that seems to have no shape at all are often the result of badly-made footwear in childhood. Plenty of patience is needed to overcome such defects, and both massage and exercises must be faithfuly performed for months. To massage the ankle, dust your hands liberally with talcum powder, and clasp them round the ankles. Then, pressing very firmly all the time with fingers and thumbs, draw the hands slowly up to the knees. Lower them slowlv to the ankle again, pressing verv lightly this time. Repeat twelve times on each leg . Good walking is most important. Practise walking along a straight line or edge of carpet, along which each foot must be advanced in turn, to avoid putting them too far apart. '1 he weight should always be over the ball of the back foot when one foot is advanced. Tiptoe exercises tend to slenderise the' ankles, and should be practised dnilv. Walk up and down your bedroom with only stockings on your feet, and on tiptoe. This is also excellent as a corrective to a tendency to flat-foot.

In summer the short-sleeve, and even the no-sleve, fashion is always popular. This means that arms and elbows must be looked after with more care. More attention ough to be paid to the elbows. 'I hey are supposes! to be “softly rounded.” But, oh; the rough, red, and unsightly ones some girls seem to possess! Such elbows should be scrubbed at night with a brush and plenty of hot, soapy water, rinsed, and carefully dried. Then applv plcntv of good, nourishing cream to the elbows, and spread some on two lambswol powder puffs, place a puff over each elbow, and fasten into place with adhesive tape. The tape should be long enough to encircle the arm. If the elbows are in bad condition, wear thesq puffs as much as possible for a few days. Remove the tape and cream with warm water. After this treatment trv to avoid resting your elbows on the table, etc. This makes them red and angular.—Exchange.
