CITY WAR MEMORIAL
<s. SITE ADHERED TO Whilst appreciating Mr. Hurst Seager’s interest in the Citizens’ War Memorial, a meeting of the Memorial Executive Committee resolved to adhere to the site adjoming the Parliamentary grounds, which was granted by the Government for the purpose of erecting “tlie citizens’ memorial.” It was pointed out oy several of the members of the committee that the site now suggested by Mr. Seager was bv no means a new one, and that the Basin Reserve site had been considered on a former occasion, but tlie committee were almost unanimous in rejecting it in favour of the Parliamentary Grounds site. It was reported to the meeting that tenders for the memorial would be called at the end of the present month, and that arrangements were now being completed for the laying of the foundation stone on Anzac Day, April 25.
