OBJECT OF ACQUISITION Brief reference to the State’s purchase of most of the privately-owned Hutt Road motor-buses was made by the Prime Minister 'Right Hon. J. G. Coates) yesterday, when replying to a deputation which urged the Government to reconsider its decision regarding the central pier proposed to be erected on the 'Hutt Road. “The Government,” said the Prime -Minister, “have bought out four of the bus companies with the object of trying to cut down <Jnr losses on rail services.. The buses will relieve the< services during certain hour of the day. It will be seen,, then, that the Railway Department is as much interested as anyone else in the Hutt Road.”
