Dairy companies in the Taranaki district have recently been approached by the representatives of an English syndicate to sell all surplus whey from cheese making, the solids of which will be utilised for the manufacture of animal fodder, }d. a gallon being offered for the whey (reports an exchange). In the majority of cases the directors of the companies have approved of tho scheme, and meetings of suppliers are now being called to discuss the question. It is learned from the South Island Dairy Association that it is probable that a similar offer will he made to Otago and Southland factories. It is expected that a meeting of directors will bo called in Southland at no very distant date, when the proposal will be put before them.
