Spirited bidding for thu best hits was the chief feature at an auction sale to-night of tlio first batch of sections in the Orakei garden suburb, which will be about two and a half miles from tho city when tho new waterfront road is opened. Tho top price of the sale was for a section of one rood twentysoven perches, which brought £llOO. Other sections, round about a quarter of an acre, brought from £1375 io £1255. Other sections, smaller, and not facing the harbour, sold at round about £675 to £735, while several wore passed in nt £(100. Tho sale was generally regarded as a good one.
