HUTT VALLEY BUS SERVICES
PURCHASE BY RAILWAY DEPARTMENT A unanimous decision permitting th© sale of Messrs. Barber and Wlietton s, J. Sharpe, Ltd.’s, and O. Cotterill's licet of motor buses to the Railway Department was reached at a meeting <>t Hutt Valley bus proprietors on Tuesday. It was stated yesterday by the chairman of the Railway Board, Air. T. J. Jones, that the Department would take over the three fleets named above as from Sunday next, when it would run (he. existing services. The onlv buses now privately owned on ihc Wellington-Hutt run arc those controlled by the Hutt-Combined service, the members of which are Messrs. A. Hare, C. S. Cecil, am] G. S. Anyon. 'The Department had already bought out the “Community” service.
A drover driving a flock of sheep to the Oraiji Railway Station had an unenviable experience with bees recently (says an exchange). The queen bee settled on his head, and th? swarm followed with uncomfortable results. Fortunately he had time to unloose his horse, which he sent out of danger, otherwise there may have been a. stampede. When help arrived the bees were dispersed and the journey continued.
