At 4.16 an engine turned out to 35 Grant Road, Thoriidon, a two-story wood and iron eight-roomed apartment house, occupied by Mrs. Ada Winifred Sherrill. Un arrivl it was found that the gas stove in the kitchen had caught alight, as the result of some fat running over. The slight outbreak w.as soon suppressed without any damage being done. At 5.4 L the brigade turned out to a one-story five-roomed house in course of erection in Rodrigo Road, Kilbiruie. Damage by fire was done to two rooms it tlie rear of the premises and to the remaining rooms by heat and smoke. The need for protection against fire loss is obvious.
