CRUISER AUSTRALIA

— 4 HIGH SPEED ATTAINED AT TRIALS London, February 13. The cruiser Australia in her fullspeed trials on the Clyde did 32.5 knots, equalling the fastest British cruisers, compared with the old Australia’s 26 knots. The sister ship Canberra’s progress is three months behind that of the Australia in order that the former may benefit by experience with the new developments embodied in the Australia. The submarines .Otway and Oxley are expected at Gibraltar to-day on their first stage from Plymouth, after a series of terrible gales, notably in the Bay of Biscay, when speed was reduced to a minimum.
