Two Suggestions. Two very good suggestions came up at the last meeting of the association. One was that a sub-committee be appointed . to go into the rules governing the interclub cup contest, and that a number of copies of the amended rules be circulated among the clubs concerned. It was decided that the matter receive definite consideration on the return of the delegates from the Dominion conference. Rules governing the Takapuua class contests will receive the same consideration.
The other suggestion was that the yachts of the different clubs be all numbered by the association so that the trouble of carrying numbers on regatta day only be eliminated. Evans Bay Races.
When the boats rounded the first buoy in the IS-footers and under event at Evans Bay on Saturday, they presented a sight unusual to Wellington. With ’itinois and Sylvia out in front slightly, the rest catne round together. To see nine boats in one race was really gratifying to those on shore. In the keelers race Wairere got back about twenty minutes ahead of the others, just on the edge of a southerly. The others, less lucky, caught the southerly half way up tho bay and had to close haul, but even then it was dying away al] file time. At the slip the boats were together, Venus about two boats’ lengths ahead of lolanthe and Windward. lolanthe shook out her leader, and was able to cross the line just ahead of Venus, who later hoisted hers. On Sunday lolanthe, Venus and the launches Felix and Lurline had a picnic at Ward Island.
Wairere spent the day at Muritai, Day’s Bay and Eona Bay.
| Nautilus and Sylvia were out cruising I on Sunday. I lolanthe has taken over a new shed, i and Wairere now has lolanthe’s.
The Boat Harbour. Marangi and Oyster were out cruising on Saturday. . Ou Sunday Marangi went to Kau Bay and the island. Ovster was at Mahina Bay. Miru, Mana and Seabird were at the island. . . „ Other yachts out cruising were Kotiri, Ailsa and Nanette. Quite a number of yachts have been out cruising during the evenings in the last fortnight. . It is understood that entries so tar for the ladies’ race are: Mana (Mrs. J. E. L. Cull), Venus (Miss N. Berge), and Marangi (Mrs. B- Clarke). Ailsa may also be a starter. Around the Clubs.
The Worsen Bav Club held its picnic at Day’s Bay last Sunday the first launch leaving Seatoun at about 8.30 a.m. The day "’as excellent and the picnic a great success. The club is holding a dance in the clubhouse this Saturday, the proceeds to go to the Free Ambulance funds. Mr. J. E. Ramsey’s 14-foot centreboarder has recently been named Saucy Kate and is performing very well with her new sail. Over the week-end the Paremata Club held a race for boys under 17. The boats were sailing under their club handicaps, and the boys are reported to have performed very well. This is the first of a series of three races sailed for a trophy Conditions were rather rough at Phmmerton on Saturday for racing, but on Sunday Nonsuch, Tuakana, Sea Lady and Tuahini were out cruising. The Ileretaunga Club held a race for the June Cup, donated by Mr. T. H. Powles, for Takapuna class boats, last Wednesday. Wairuua (S. Ward) won, with Nukumai (A. T. Rowse) second, and Buz Buz (A Aldred) third). The boats raced over a. two-hour course and finished with about fifteen seconds between first and third boats. Such a finish speaks well for the one designers.
