Local authorities all round Christchurch are receiving complaints at the present time about the nuisance of dust (states the “Sun”). The authorities are doing their best to combat the nuisance, but watering in this weather does not do a great deal of good. The Wainiari County Council hopes to surface, next winter, the roads in this district with some form of permanent material which will help to alleviate the dust trouble during the summer months. If the Main Highways Board takes over the additional highways applied for in tlie district the council will be able to devote more time and attention to the other roads in its boundaries.
