TWO YOUNG VISITORS Two visitors, Miss de Chair, daughter of the Governor of New South Wales, and Miss Bavin, daughter of the Premier of that State, have been travelling through New Zealand, and left last night by the Tahiti on their return to Sydney. Miss de Chair has been about six weeks in the Dominion, having spent some time in Auckland with her brother, who is at present attached to the New Zealand Navy. On the arrival of Mr. Bavin and his
daughter she joined them and visited Rotorua and other tourist spots. She has also been staying with New Zealand friends in the south. Miss de Chair is a typical English girl, fair hair and complexion, and with a charming English voice. Miss Bavin is darker, but she also strikes her interlocutor as full of life, and she declares she has enjoyed her visit to the fullest extent, everyone seeming to go to trouble to show kindness to the visitors. Miss Bavin is not a political person, she does not make speeches. She came to New Zealand “to see that her father had a holiday,” and the visitors left with the idea that New Zealand was a most delightful place for a holiday, and wanting very much to come back.
