FATAL EXPLOSION

Thirteen members of an inspection party were killed by an explosion at the Haig Pit, Cumberland, which has been closed since a, fatal accident to four men in December. The inspection party, including two Government officials and other mine officials, descended tp-day to investigate the possibility of reopening. It is believed that the explosion followed the opening of a sealed working, ' MINE RESEALED (Rec. February 12, 7.35 p.m.) London, February 12. All the victims of the colliery disaster were married. The survivors state that a fourth blast half shipped them, and they had to cover two miles, guided by a solitary lamp. They had to grope and crawl most of the way. All the rescuers have been withdrawn, as the roof has fallen in, and the mine has been resealed.—A.P.A. pnd “Sun,” ;
