One hears’ occasionally of strange cases of young animals being fostered by other animals, and though a foal may frequently be brought up on cow’s milk, the opposite seldom occurs. On a Romahapa farm at the present time (states the "Clutha Leader”) there is a buggy mare, which has taken a decided fancy to two young calves, and frequently the calves may be seen in the paddock obtaining their customary drink from the mare, which recently lost its foal.
