AMATEUR RADIO SOCIETY
At a meeting of the Wellington Amateur Radio Society, over which Mr. J. 11. Owen presided, appreciation was expressed for the special broadcast given by the Broadcasting Company in connection with the ill-fated trans-'las-man flight. A resolution was carried requesting the Broadcasting Company to continue broadcasting until at least 10 o’clock on Sundav nights, and to cut out all talks after'B o’clock, so that tlie actual concert programme shall not be interfered with. More relays from theatres, especially theatre orchestral music, is being asked (or. The secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department is being requested to state whether his officers have located any power line leakages; also what results have been obtained from the investigations by the radio inspectors. A long discussion took place in respect to the class of instrumental music being dispensed from 2YA, it being freelv stated that too much high-class music was being broadcast, whereas the consensus of opinion seemed to be that light orchestral music was best suited for broadcasting, special mention being made of operas.
