OPERATION ON AORANGI
BOY ILL WITH APPENDICITIS. Dominion Special Service. Auckland, February 12. When the Aorangi was a few miles out from Sydney on her trip to Auckland a “brass” boy, Ken Weekes, aged 15 years, became suddenly ill, an immediate operation for appendicitis being found necessary. The ship’s speed was reduced for a while and the operation performed by Dr. C. G. Learoyd. The boy rallied well, but on arrival of the ship in Auckland he was conveyed to the Auckland Hospital for further treatment.
