* PRISONERS DEALT WITH AT TIMARU. By Telegraph.—Press association. Timaru, February 10. In the Supreme Court, Kenneth Gordon Veitch, who pleaded guilty to a charge of carnal knowledge, was admitted to probation for two years. Mr Justice Adams stated that the sentence must not be taken to mean that a similar course would be adopted in futwho pleaded guilty to a charge of theft of £76 10s.. was sentenced to reformative treatment for a period not exceeding two yyjrs. CASES AT DUNEDIN. BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION. Dunedin, February 10. In the Supreme Court to-day, before Mr. Justice Sim, John Miller, who was charged with indecently assaulting two girls under the age of 16. and charged alternately with common assault, was found not guilty, and discharged George Thomas Burgess, charged with indecent assault respecting a girl under the age of IG, was found not guilty,.and discharged, the Judge remarking that accused could consider himself fortunate that he had found such a jury. Ivan Walter William Hanning, who pleaded guilty in ihe Lower Court to breaking and entering premises at Palmerston", and stealing goods, valued at ,£l3 Gs. Gd.. was admitted to probation for three years. William McKinnel. on n charge of assaulting Henry Bayley, was fined £lOO. George Alexander Mason, who was found guiltv of dishonestly obtaining three pairs'of socks and a necktie, was admitted to probation for a period ot two years.
