DRAINAGE TO HIGHWAYS. The Makara County Council met yesterdav, the chairman (Mr. E. W mdley) presiding. ■ There were also present Councillors L. C. Brjant, H. J. Monaghan, D. Sloane D Prosser, R. W. Bothamley, M. S. G. Monk, M. G. Mexted, and the county clerk, Mr. W. L The e Works and Finance Committee reported that continuous traffic: over the holiday period combined with the dry weather, had had a serious effect on the surfaces of the Titaln Roads. Tawa Terrace Road had had tenance work carried out on further improvement had been hel un until property owners had taken steps to clear gorse and broom from the roadways. .. . . It was decided to purchase a light scarifier at a cost of £75. Two months’ accounts totallin 3 £2204 Bs. were passed for payment.
