MISHAP TO STEAMER Dominion Special Service. Auckland, February 9. Passengers for Northcote and Birkenhead bv the last boat from Auckland at midnight had an unusual and exciting experience before reaching their home. The ferrv steamer Kestrel, when attempting to berth at the Northcote jettv, missed the wharf. The vessel stuck last aground just outside the vehicular staging at the Northcote wharf. The passengers were landed at Northcote in the ship's dinghy, those lor Birkenhead being transferred from Northcote bv motor-car. Captain Leathart and his crew remained aboard all night, and the Kestrel was got off under her own power shortly after half-past 8 o’clock this morning..
