North-west to westerly winds, chiefly fresh to strong at times in Cook and Fouveaux Straits, moderate elsewhere. Generally smooth to moderate seas, but rising in Cook and Fouveaux Straits. Weather chiefly fair to cloudy and warm, but with scattered showers in Westland and Otago, and a slight tendency for thunderstorms at inland stations.
