PERSONAL ITEMS
The Alinister of Industries and Commerce (Pion. A. D. McLeod) returned to Wellington from Nelson yesterday. To-day he will visit Alartiiiborough on departmental business. The Alinister of Public Works (Hen. K. S. Williams) has returned to Wellington from a visit to the district.
The Alinister of Defence (Hon. F. J. Rollcston) left yesterday for Auckland, where he will visit the naval base and the Narrow Nack defence reserve. The Minister will proceed thence to Alaungaturoto and Whangarei, returning to Auckland on Saturday night. Air. Rolleston is expected to return to Wellington on Wednesday morning.
Dr. and Airs. Lewis Smith, of London, on their world-trip through the Dominions, recently spent a week in Wellington. They’have now left for a month’s fishing at Tokaanu and Taupo, and will afterwards visit Rotorua, Russell, and Auckland before sailing on April 10, per s.s. Aorangi, for British Columbia.
Air. R. C. Hayes, of Karori, who has been for some time attached to the Observatory at Apia, has returned to Wellington, and taken up his duties in the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research.
Messrs. IL J. Stott and A. J. Curtis were yesterday welcomed as members of the Wellington City and Suburban Highways Board. Mr. H. P. Desmoulins, of Dunedin, is on a visit to Wellington. The Victoria University College Council last night passed, a resolution congratulating Professor I’eren on his appointment as principal of Massey Agricultural College,
