HUTT VALLEY RAILWAY RAMPS
CONDITION OF SURFACE CRITICISED Since the roads over the railway ramps in the Hutt Valley were made ever a year ago, they have been subjected to very heavy traffic, and as they are newlv-fornied and of macadam they have cut up badly under the strain, and are now very badly pot-holed, besides causing a nuisance to the locality on account of the dust the passing cars raise. The matter of paving these roads came before the local Highways Board yesterdav. when the chairman (Mr. G A. Troup) stated that the road over the White’s Line ramp was the one blot on local roads. On his proposal, it was decided to pave the road over the ramp as soon as possible, and to ask the Public Works Department to contribute to its cost.
