Olympic Club’s activities. On Saturday evening at the Olympic Club’s jubilee meeting, the Olympic Club had sixteen of their athletes competing, but only tv<o of them were able to finish in a place. In the 300 yards’ junior, Graham, Bernet, McGreevy, Pullan, and Warner all looked to have fair chance, but were outclassed by the youthful Killeen. McGreevy covered the last ‘2O yards in fine style, and bad he got a clear run round the last bend, he ■•onld have been [-laced. Warnet ran well, and dead-heated for third place. The sprints are tio short for this runner, who intends, next season, to concentrate on middle-distance running. Tn the 100 yards’ open, Paris, Foley, and Halford started. Again Foley disappointed in this race, and Halford will be better in a few weeks. Campbell, H. Gordon, and G. Atlev toed the line for the 1000 yards, and the last-named ran exceptionally well to finish into fourth position. Campbell, from scratch, had no chance, as the distance was run well under New Zealand record time. R. Janies, after getting second ; n his heat, failed in the final, but rode well in each race of the three Quarter mile event. Perhaps with a little more control over his machine he will soon catch the judge’s eye. In the junior cycle event, M. Gard finished in a place, but did not ride as well as usual. W. Hargreaves had hard hick in this event—his front wheel got tangled up with another rider's pedal. Fortunately, neither rider came off, although Hargreaves was forced to retire from the race when in a good position.

Olympic is unfortunate in having lost their star sprinter, R. Walker, who returned north last week. It is hoped that he will return for the provincial championshins, and so give the club a fair team for the relay race,. To Represent Selwyn Club.

The following will represent the Selwyn Club at the Wellington Provincial Championships at Athletic Park on Saturday:—BBo yards, W. Ogg, T. Montgomery; 440 yards, T. Montgomery; one mile and three-mile walks, D. Pedersen. A grade cycle events; Half-mile, one and three miles, H. J. Morris, L. Baker, G. S. Bright, D. H. McFedries. B grade cycle events: Half-mile and one mile, P. Sutherland and L. Beere.

Jubilee Meeting. The jubilee meeting of the Wellington and Wanganui clubs, held on the Basin

Reserve last Saturday evening, was a great success. The attendance was a record for this season and the local club will now be on a sound financial footing. This old club deserves its success for it has always been the mainstay of amateur athletics in the Wellington district. The officials are to be congratulated on their control of the gathering. The events were kept going with a swing and the last event was concluded right ou time. Wellington’s Win. The Wellington Club were successful in winning the aggregate points prize, but the Wanganui Club have great hopes of turning the tables on their own track on February 18. Asked To Go. The following team is invited to make the trip; Jenkins. Fleming, Bird, Barnett, Levy. Rosser, Le Grove, Cole, Cunningham. W. R. Ingram, Leech, Lander, Campbell. Thompson, Berry, Munro, Brown, Sutherland, Brady, Bayne, Flett, Carswell, Gane, Scarfe, Horsfall, Toomer, Clark, F. Perry, Miller and Rusden. Ladies: Misses Swinburne, Collins, Sharp, Millar, Edwards, Blatherwick, Wilkins and Pedersen.

Eteveneaux Cup. Jenkins, Fleming, Bird and Leech are being sent to Christchurch to represent the Wellington Club in their annual relay race with Christchurch Club for the Eteveneaux Relay Cup to be run on February 15. Motueka Club.

This energetic club is now preparing its programme for the Easter meeting. A strong contingent of 'Wellington athletes is expected to make the trip.

Provincial Meeting. The Wellington Centre is to put on a great double-bill this Saturday. Operations commence at the Athletic Park at 2 p.m., finish temporarily at 5, and then, continue at the Basin Reserve at 8 p.m. Though Standen and Gray will be the main attraction, these championship gatherings are a draw in themselves. Wairarapa is sending down a strong team and with representatives from Napier, Hastings, Dannevirek, Palmerston North and Levin, competition should be very keen. Good Contests.

Certain winners, such as Jenkins, Ramson, Munro, Lander. W. Harvey, Lanky, Sutherland and T. Oakley are outstanding, but there will be some great fights for honours in the quarter-mile between Fleming, Eastwood and Veitch; in the 880 between Allan, Leech, Campbell and Priestly; in the one mile between Priestly. Leech and Bayne. This will undoubtedly be the meeting of the season, and at the finish the Wellington Club should be well ahead on points and again capture the McVilly Shield. Rose Retires.

Randolph Rose has definitely decided to retire from further racing this season. His presence will be missed on Saturday.

The Wellington Amateur Athletic Club’s picnic held at Swinson Park, Akatarawa, last week-end was a most enjoyable outing. Over 120 of both sexes made the trip, and as a social function it is likely to be continued in future years. The Wanganui and Gisborne visitors were present and the managers of both teams expressed their appreciation of the kindness meted out to them by the members of the local club.
