The fact that eharks have been seen near the Waikanae beach has given some uneasiness to bathers, but the divers employed by the Barbour Board on the breakwater work arc not troubled’ by thoughts of the sea-monsters (says the “Poverty Bay Herald"). A few days ago a shark estimated to be 12ft. in length swam lazily around the end of the breakwater just as the divers were preparing go down, but its presence did not delay the work. Men working underwater in rubber and canvas suits find their best protection, it is said, in the discharge of spent air through the valves of their helmets, which makes the divers objects of dread to the normal shark.

Modern food does not supply enough phosphorus to feed the nerves properly, but this discrepancy is made up byMarshall’s Fosphorine—the wonder tonic and nerve food. Baxter, of Baxter’s Lung Preserver, Christchurch.— Advt,
