TRANSFERS AND PROMOTIONS
Tlie Commissioner if Police (Mr. W. B. Mcllveney) announced the following promotions and transfers in the police force yesterday:— Senior-Sergent IV. J. Quinn, transferred from Rotorua to take charge. of 1 Nelson city, replacing the late SeniofSergeant Barrett. Sergeant J. J. Hogan, transferred from Hastings to Rotorua. Sergeant J. A. Dempsey, of Gisborne, is appointed senior-sergeant-in-charge of the Hastings station. „ Sergeant G. A. Doggett, of Wellington, goes to Hastings as second sergeant, thus providing for increased staff and upervision in that town, which has grown considerably lately. Sergeant J. Mclntyre, of Auckland, replaces Sergeant Dempsey at Gisborne. Sergeant W. Cooper goes from Hamilton to take charge of the Spit station, Napier, thus improving the >tatus of that town. _ . Constable J. G. Gallagher, of the Criminal Registration branch, headquarters, is promoted to the rank of sergeant. This constable is a qualified solicitor. Constable C. N. Anniss, of the Rings land station. Auckland, is promoted to sergeant. Auckland central station. Constable A. Bissett. of Kaitaia. is promoted to sergeant, and will take up duty in Wellington. . — Detective F. Culloty, of Hamilton, is promoted to sergeant, and takes up uniform duty, replacing Sergeant Cooper at Hamilton. ‘ „ Sergeant O. P. Mclntee. of Dunedin, is assigned to take charge of the South Dunedin station, replacing Sergeant Leonard, who has retired. Constable D. Vaughan, of Naseby, is promoted to sergeant, replacing Sergeant Mclntee at Dunedin. .. Sergeant C. R. Duke, of Wellington, replaces Senior-Sergeant Whitehouse at the wharf station. Wellington. Constable D. C. Beard, of Greymouth, is promoted to sergeant, a.nd replaces Sergeant Duke at the central station. Wellington. Detective A. G. McHugh, of Auckland, is promoted to detective-sergeant, and will remain in Auckland. Detective W. Tricklebank, of Wellington. is promoted to detective-sergeant, and remains in Wellington. Detective F. J. Beard, of Dunedin, replaces Senior-Detective Carroll in charge of the detective staff. Invercargill. Detective A. J. White, of Auckl ind, renlaces Detective Culloty at Hamilton. The promotions will take effect as from March 1.
