Masterton, February 7. A light shower of rain made the track slippery for the electric light sports mesjting at Carterton to-night, at which D. Gray, the Australian cyclist, appeared against T. Oakley. The meeting of these two riders was most unsatisfactory, as a series of mishaps to the Australian robbed each event of what gave promise of being thrilling finishes. Gray fell three times, twice at the. same bend, and in one spill slightly damaged his leg. He fell in his heat of the mile, and Oakev fell in the final. Tn "the final of the. mile and a half Gray and Oaklev were fighting out an exciting finish round the home turn when Gray crashed, and Oakley went on to win easily in 3min. 54 l-.ssec. Exactly the same thing occurred in the two miles, Gray falling at the same place when fighting out a finish with the Masterton rider, who went on to win in smin. 9 4-ssec. Gray was quite candid that he did not like the track bends, of which he found difficulty in turning. Jenkins won his heat in the 100 yards in lOsec. dead, but was unplaced in the final, which was won by J. Holmwood. E. K. Eastwood (6yds.) won the 220yds. in 22sec., and from three yards won the 440yds. in 51sec.
