WOMEN’S SUFFRAGE
PETITION TO BRITISH PRIME MINISTER
AND LETTER TO THE KING
(Rec. February 7, 7.15 p.m.)
London, February 0.
Despite the semi-official forecast that the chief bill in the coming session will be that to give votes to women at the age of 21 years, women to-morrow will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the extension of the franchise to women aged 30 by presenting a petition to Mr. Baldwin at Downing Street and a letter to the King at Buckingham Palace. The letter declares that three million votelcss women under 30 include some of the most brilliant minds of the day, and thousands of wives, mothers and workers in shops, factories and workshops are doing their bit to build up the national prosperity. The signatories of the petition include Tshbel MacDonald, actress; Betty Chester, girl Wrangler at Cambridge; women political candidates, municipal councillors and undergraduates.
