QUESTION OF DRAINAGE The quarterly meeting of the Miramar Progressive Association was held last ni”ht, Mr. E. O- Thornton presiding. It was decided ..o write to the City Council protesting at the state of the streets on the hillsides, some of which, it was stated, were practically impassable at times, and that if action was not taken reasonably quickly, to form a deputation to the Council, to press the matter. Tlie chairman said that he understood that the plans for drainage at Miramar (mostly for >-torm-v.ater) were now drawn, but he had not seen them. The open drains were now practically reeking, and stagnant. A member: 1 We might get them through the Health Board. . The chairman: We had a petition for which signatures were being obtained, but tliev had understood that the Board of Health would net welcome a petition, and so they had dropped it. It was resolved to ask the Council to proceed with the work of providing drainage as soon <s possible. Kopresontations are to be made to tn© Underwriters’ Association in an endeavour to obtain ro’lncfions in premiums when tbo new Miramar fire station is completed. , , , ~ ~ The association decided to add its protest to that of other associations at the state of Worser Bay. Tl'c necessity of erecting a conremenco in the centre of Miramar is to bo pointed out fo the Council. It was stated that the now loan schedule provided two conveniences at Seatoun nad none at Miramar.
