NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL MEETING A meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Hewing Asoeiation was liehl on Monday jiighU Messrs. E. S. Innes (chairman), G. Lauchlan, I). K. Menzies, C. I l ’. Turner. IL Paton. R. G. Dunean, and D. Bayfield (lion, secretary), being present:. The Marlborough Association wrote asking the Council’s ruling as to status of oarsmen dead-iieating_ in a race and dividing the prize donation, and also, in the ease of crews dividing prize donation without actually towing a race. The Council ruled in the former ease ( tnat Hie crows were all winners, and, their status affected accordingly, lint tn the latter cast status was not .affected. . The Otago Association wrote protesting airninst the method adopted by the Council when apjxiinting the selectors for Olympic Gaines, 'jlio letter was roceivC'E the Otago Association io lie informed that the matter of local representatives was not considered when the appointments were made. The 'Wanganui ' ssociation forwarded a draft pro'Trail imc of tho championship regatta, which was • pnroved. as,also was th ennpointment of the following officials: Judw. Mr. H. W. Coorer; starter. Mr. Alf Gray; umpires of championship events, Mr. A. Delves. Tho Hamilton Bowing Club wrote pointing out: the desirability of supplying an oit'ht-oai’od bont fol* rowing clubs on the Waikato, and applying for a boat to be housed at Hamilton.—The secretary was instructed to ask the Auckland Association for a reply to his letter asking for information on this matter. Mr. G. Lauchlan was appointed to aet as the Council's 'opresentative at the championship regatta of March 3 Several other members of the Council also intimated their intention of being present. Mr. D. R. Menzies wrote regretting that lie was unable to continue to net as one of the association representatives on the Olympic Council. Mr. Menzies lias acted in this capacity for many years, am] <,n the motion of the chairman it was mianimonsly resolved to place op record <he Council’s high appreciation of his services. Mr. IT. Paton "was aupointcil Io the vacancy on the Olvnipie Council. The names of 57 oarsmen were forwarded by various ssoeiatious as nominations for tho Olvnipie crow, as follows: Auckland. 17; Wanganui, 7; Marlboroiyrb. 3; Canterbury, 111; Otago, 3; and Wellington, 8. The 'Wanganui Association also nominatfd Mr. W. Sharpe as coach, and Mr. N. Ross as coxswain.
