Many varieties of blight are to be found in Ashburton vegetable gardens this season fstates the “Guardian”) The recently-discovered black blight on the broad beans has worked havoc with the plants, with consentient disastrous effect on the beans. The same blight has attacked other beans. Carrots and parsnips have also been subject to depredations by disease. Among the fruit, pear trees are showing signs of the small black grub which eats the green matter, leaving a brown husk.
