CRIMINAL SESSIONS BEGIN. The criminal sessions opened in the Supreme Court yesterday, His Honour the Chief Justice (Sir Charles Skerrett) presiding. The grand jury was as follows:—Arthur William Press (foreman), Fobert William Shallcrass, Bertram Wye Stall, Percy Francis Sinclair, Alexander: Russel',’William Robertson, Geoffrey Poynmgs Haymond, William Reginald Bai>ey, Daniel Bradley, James Andrew .Bruce, William Harris, Ambrose John llurn, Peter Hunter Anderson, Henry Leonard Hindmai;sh, Frederick Broomfield, Bertram Thomas Elliott, George Alan Greig, Edgar William Lewis. “There are six cases, gentlemen; they are ail of a very ordinary character, and will give you very little trouble,” said His Honour; Pi his charge to the grand jury. True bills were returned in the following cases:— Alfred George Wallace, allegedly contracting debts without any probable expectation of being able to pay them. George Wallace ami Edward Lawson, alleged theft from the person. John Meredith Pearson, allegedly fraudulently omitting to pay ovei; part of proceeds of auction sale received by him as auctioneer. Cyril Eugene Walsh, alleged theft. Albert Goodman, alleged reckless driving of a motor-car so as to cause bodily injuries. Albert Durant, alleged theft, alleged receiving of stolen property. DUNEDIN SITTINGS. BY Telegraph.—Press association. Dunedin, February 7. In the Supreme < ourt to-day, before Mr. Justice Sim, Charles Alexander Moore, who had pleaded guilty in the Lower Court to the theft of money from a dwelling was ordered to be detained for reformative treatment for a period not exceeding three years. George Alexander Mason pleaded tot guilty to charges cf breaking, entering, and theft at Alexandra, and receiving stolen goods. Accused was found guilty of receiving, and was remanded f'or sentence.
