While there are some very good crops of wheat in South Canterbury this season, growers in some districts are disappointed witli the way in which their crops have filled out—or, perhaps, it would be more correct to say with the way they have failed to fill out (says the Timaru “Herald”). This is attributed partly to a super-abundance of rain when the grain was in the milk stage, and partly to a blight which seems to have caused the heads to shrivel. The result is that some crops which promised to yield well will not now give a payable out-turn.
