FAREWELL TO MAGISTRATE
MR WATSON’S REMOVAL FROAI FEILDING. Feilding, December 9. .At to-day’s sitting of the Alagistrate’s Court Mr. R. AL Watson, S.M., took the opportunity of bidding farewell to the Court before entering upon his duties in his new district. He thanked the Justices of tiie Peace for the way they bad discharged their duties, and referred to the cordial relations existing between Bench and Bar Mr Watson also mentioned the spotting manner in which his decisions had been taken, and said that it was hard tor a Magistrate to please both parties. He also eulogised the work of tiie local police, who had always acted fairlv in the discharge of their duties To tiie Press, also, he spoke in terms of praise for their reporting of the Court proceedings. Mr. Goodbeliere, on behalf of the Justices, said that they could not let the occasion pass without extending to .Mr. and Mrs Watson their best wishes for their future prosperity.
Mr. J. L. Stout added his personal appreciation of the work of the Magistrate, .with whom it had alwavs been a pleasure to work. Mr J. Graham, on behalf of local members of the bar, expressed the regret that was felt* at the departure of Mr. Watson, with whom relations had alwavs been of the best.
Ee'rgeant Cahill expressed the regret of local members of the police force, who had alwavs received every consideration at the hands of Mr. Watson.
During his remarks in reply Air. Watsou made congratulatory reference to the excellent manner in which Mr. A. Whitaker (clerk of the Court) discharged his duties.
