LAWN TENNIS

A FRIENDLY MATCH. A friendly match between members of the Wellington Technical College Old Students’ Tennis Club and the Thorndon Normal School Old Pupils’ Tennis Club was played last Saturday, and resulted in a win for the latter club by 10 sets to 6. The match was played on the Normal School courts, details of the games being as follow, Thorndon old pupils being- mentioned first:— Eadies’ Singles.—Miss M. Lambert beat Miss Hyde, 6—l; Miss E. Lambert Jost to Miss Campbell, 4—6; Miss McLean lost to Miss Leycock, 3—6; Miss Wardrop beat Miss Laurence, 6—4. Men’s Singles.—Boyes beat O’Connell, 6—2; Rogers beat Varcoe, 6 —2; Owers beat Gribble, 6—3; Taylor beat Clayton; 6—l. Ladies’ Doubles.—Misses M. Lambert and McLean lost to Misses Hyde and Campbell, 3—6; Misses E. Lambert and Wardrop lost to Misses Leycock and Laurence, 3 —6. Men’s Doubles.—Boyes and Rogers beat O’Connell and Varcoe, 6—3; Owers and Taylor beat Gribble and Clayton, 6—o. Combined Doubles. —Miss M. Lambert and Boyes beat Miss Hyde and O’Connell, 6—2; Miss D. McLean and Owers Jost to Miss Campbell and Varcoe, 2—6; Miss Wardrop and Rogers lost to Miss Leycock and Grilible, 2—6; Miss E. Lambert and Taylor beat Miss Laurence and Clayton. 6 —l.
