READY FOR TRAFFIC SOON Dominion Special. Auckland, December 8. Tho second cable to span the Pacific Ocean, the duplicate line recently completed for the Pacific Cable Board, is expected to be open for traffic about December IS. This will enable it to bo in good working order to copo wJtn. tho Christmas rush of business. J.ho duplication of the cable was a great undertaking. It was carried out at a cost of <£2,750,000 and necessitated the employment of two cable steamers. It is expected that the new cable will enable messages to be transmitted at a much higher speed than hitherto.
