MEASLES AND MUMPS

AFFECT INFANT SCHOOL ATTENDANCES Dominion Special. Dunedin, December 8. In spjte of the prevalence of mumps and measles, many Dunedin schools are averaging a very high attendance. The Education Board’s attendance officer reported this morning that the attendance in most of the schools has shown a decided improvement during the last few weeks. Many of the standard classes in the city and suburban schools were averaging from 95 per cent, to 98 per cent, of attendance. Unfortunately, however, measles and mumps were still prevalent and seemed bard to shake off. The infant department of various schools were suffering in consequence. The weather conditions had also been very ' much against regular attendance, especially in the country districts.
