DESCENT OF WAIHI MINE. BY telegraph press association Waihi, December 8. His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral, Sir Charles Fergusson, and Lafly Alice Fergusson and party arrived in Waihi from Thames this morning, and were welcomed by the Mayor at tlie Seddon Memorial, in the presence a large gathering. Hundreds o school children participated, and holiday was declared. The vice-regal party . will in he afternoon pay a visit of inspection the underground workings of Waihi mine Later His I ? x . cel ' en^ V will meet the public and children on the Recreation Ground, and will ne entertained at afternoon tea by tn Plunket Society. To-morrow niorniiffi His Excellency will visit the Maim Company’s ore crushing and treatmen plant at Waikino.
