ANTI-FASCISTS
MUSSOLINI DENOUNCES DISTURBANCES LAWS FOR DEFENCE OF STATE Rome, December 6. “Exiled anti-Fascists and their agents and provocateurs have caused most objectionable incidents,” said Signor Alussolini at a slinisterial council, denouncing the disturbances following the most recent attempt at assassination. Many episodes were exaggerated, he said, and harmless fireworks became bombs and high explosives. “Demonstrations against foreign Consulates are a bad custom,” he said, “belonging to the old regime, and will be put down by every means in my power. Equally deplorable are attacks on Catholic churches and priests, for which Fascism should have the greatest respect.’’ Referring to the laws for the defence of the State, he said that they were onlv directed against a few hundreds of irreconcilable enemies and criminals. Good citizens, even non-Fascists, were under fear.
